The Junior Rodeo in Clements last Saturday was my second in life and first with a camera. My mission was to get a photographic record of most events and show as many participants as possible. Not knowing the difference between “pole bending”, “goat tying”, and “chute dogging”, I was at a distinct disadvantage. But with help from a proud grandmother and a printed schedule of events, I located the highest perch and took aim.
Seven hours later I left the arena with a good set of pictures and deep appreciation for what a hundred-pound child can do on the back of a thousand-pound animal. I also have a much better understanding of cowboy terminology and look forward someday to bending a pole or two, tying on a goat, and chuting a few dogs. (See full gallery of 150 photos)
