Friday night’s final score of 42 to 12 may reflect Tokay’s technical dominance over Lodi, but enthusiasm on and off the football field were an even match. Players gave their all while fans invented ways to demonstrate their support with everything from body art to copious clouds of white powder normally reserved for newborns. By the way, If you ever get a chance to photograph such a rivalry from the field and want to experiment with forms of conditioned reflexes that surpass anything Pavlov did with his German Shepherd, try pointing a camera with a big white lens at the first few rows of the crowd. The feeling of control over other humans is addictive. If you have any doubts, take a look at the photographs taken this season of both Tokay and Lodi High’s Grape Bowl home games. Many of them will make fine additions to Senior Photo collections.
