The year: 2014
The place: Millswood Middle School
The anxious teacher: Mrs. Radotic
The event: The Millswood Middle School Fashion Show
My motivation: My grandson Ethan
My family enjoyed the fashion show while I, the dedicated photographer, lifted what felt like 30 pounds of lead to my eye over 500 times to net 300 one-of-kind photos of 13 year olds strutting their stuff.
My camera in those days was a very capable Canon 7D. With an APS-C size CMOS sensor and 18 Megapixels, it was a popular model among bird shooters. However, in a poorly lit middle school gymnasium using ambient light, I was stretching its capabilities at 3200 ISO, f/2.8 and a shutter speed 1/250.
Regardless, you learn to work with what you have. A little noise is well worth the memories.
