Nine days ago on Sunday, July 27th, most people in Lodi were hiding from the 100 degree heat. Not Misty Springmeyer. She was 1000 miles to the north in Whistler, British Columbia swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles, and running 26 miles in the IRONMAN Canada competition.
Last evening, “Corporal” Springmeyer, a twelve-year veteran of the Lodi Police Department, participated in a far less grueling event called “National Night Out” as a law enforcement representative of the City of Lodi.
Visiting several block parties in different parts of town, she was universally greeted with smiles and open arms by young and old. As a mother of two and the compact, rock-hard stature of an Olympic gymnast, she discussed any and all issues of public safety with the confidence and authority of fellow Officers twice her size.
