Lockeford Civil War Encampment

The Lockeford Historical Society hosted a Civil War encampment on Saturday that featured historical reenactors. The soldiers marched, drilled and fired muskets.  Visitors were treated to history lessons that included period firearms, medicine, traditions, grooming, clothing, social values and customs. It was difficult to get anyone to smile for the camera. But, then again, people really didn’t smile for photographs in those days. The photographic process took too long to hold a smile, and when people did smile, it wasn’t very pretty.   Click on any thumbnail photo below to open a gallery of over 70 images.
