Pretty Faces At Taco Truck Cook-Off

I don’t know of a photographer that doesn’t appreciate a pretty face … which made today’s Taco Truck Cook-Off a photographer’s delight.  Good food, music and colorful dancers (Ballet Folklorico) made Central Avenue the place to be this warm Saturday afternoon.  Two Taco Trucks received awards for outstanding food …  La Fondita (#9) the Judge’s Choice Award and La Picosita (#7) the People’s Choice Award.

  1. The Lodi Arts Commission along with its partners, the Lodi Arts Foundation and Lodi Community Arts Center, is pleased to have presented such a well received event and looks forward to many more!

  2. Gorgeous pictures that really show we have some beautiful cultural diversity in Lodi. Look what can happen when the City puts a little effort out in a positive manner to support something on the Eastside! I could not be there due to prior family obligations in Sacramento. I am so happy the families were able to show off their food, dancing and their darling children. These people are SO proud and work hard…just because they cannot afford to live in Sunwest or Parkwest does not mean they are bad people. They are not all in gangs…the white people of this town need to wake up and do more to support the east side of town…this should be one of many events that we should have…I hope there will be many more!!!

    • Mary,

I don’t usually comment on my own work, but it was an absolute treat to photograph this event. The people were extraordinarily beautiful, refreshingly unsophisticated, and a pleasure to photograph. I am happy to have captured what I’d call the “heart” of this event in the faces of the people.
