The Woman’s Club of Lodi

In 1926, 28 ladies began the Ladies Improvement Club. Its purpose was to assist in the progress and betterment of Lodi. They raised the down payment for Lodi’s Public Library, which today is the meeting chambers of the City Council. In 1913 the Club’s name was changed to The Woman’s Club of Lodi. They had 65 members. In 1915, they began to to plan their own clubhouse. The site was purchased for ten dollars in gold and five years later the cornerstone was laid. The Club auditorium hosted many fundraisers and social events and it was rented to the public, and this continues today.

In 1988, the building was registered with the State and Federal Registry of Historical Buildings. The Woman’s Club of Lodi has monthly member luncheons on the first Friday of the month, hosts different fund raisers, and most weekends is a popular venue for wedding receptions and other celebrations. The Club is also active in the community and assist many charitable causes.
