Historic Lodi Photographs

In 1990 the Bank of Stockton acquired the photo collection of photographer Leonard Covello with the purpose of preserving local history. The Covello Collection dates back to the 1850’s and consists of more than 21,000 historical photos from the Central Valley, the Mother Lode and surrounding communities.  With cooperation from the Bank of Stockton’s archivist, Bill Maxwell, LODI360 was granted permission to share a sampling of that collection as it relates to the Lodi/Woodbridge area.

  1. I love to look at these treasures of the past. We can only imagine what life was like in previous generations. I think the pics tend to make us long for the simpler times but we need to also appreciate the benefits we have today. To me, it looks like most are rather “fit” (not overweight, like me) — probably partly because they had to do a lot more walking to get where they needed to go.
