Great job LPD! Now if you'd only set up your DUI/License checkpoints on the nights like Zinfest and the many wine drinking events that occur in Lodi nearly all year long, and in the right areas and the correct flow of traffic on those nights, instead of the same old out of the way sites and poor choice of traffic flow, those who insist on imbibing too much at these events on a regular basis that continue to drive impaired who get away each wine or alcohol drinking event will be taken off the road before they kill someone. In my opinion, the choices where and when these DUI/License checkpoints are set up merely looks like the poor minority residents of Lodi are targeted for license/insurance misdemeanor citations to line the pockets of those lucky tow companies that are on the "preferred" roster of the city of Lodi and LPD, rather than LPD staging in the areas where they would actually possibly have to arrest one of the good old boys or Lodi area dignitaries and have to suffer the repercussions of arresting an elite for such a simple crime of dui/impaired driving.

USA Vs Italy.

In Italy our cars are are less hi-tech. The Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) actually uses for patrol the Alfa Romeo 159, very nice, but a bit too big for most city centres, where strees are pretty narrow and the traffic is heavy.

<img src="http://lodi360.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/ar159_polizia.jpg" alt="Alfa Romeo 159" />

These Alfa Romeo 159 are equipped almost in the same way of your Crown Victorias: the back part is separated from the front by a transparent plastic frame, with a venting system to let the air flow, the seats are in plastic for easy cleaning, but there are no bars at the back windows.

The front is a standard car, where the two officers stay for the 6 hours duty. The only "hi-tech" device is the radio command, as the main component lies in the trunk, big as a shoes box. There is no computer or other electronics. Every control is done via radio chatting. On the roof there's a light bar similar to yours. The only weapon on board is a Beretta PM-12 pistol machine gun.

In the trunk, besides the shoe-box radio system, there are two bulletproof vests (big and heavy), a fire extinguisher, a medkit, a fireproof blanket, plus the patrol chief personal briefcase with all the burocracy papers needed on duty.

The Alfa Romeo 159 are merely standard cars, bought directly from the factory, already painted in the light blue color and modified seats. All the decals, the lights bar and the radio are mounted by the Police Regional Vehicle Center.
The good thing of these patrol cars are the bulletproof windscreen and front doors, as well their shatterproof front doors windows.

These cars are going to be changed soon for a smaller one, as the Alfa Romeo 159, with their 2.4 liters TurboDiesel engine, suffers the slow speed for city patrol. It's a sports car designed for speeding on motorways.

These AR 159 are very suitable for California: cute, fast and powerful.
I'm sure you'll be able to handle a 6 speed manual gear.

Greetings form Lodi, Italy.

At least they're not like those pest control employeees such as Clark Pest Control who get their outside spray apparatus and insecticides ready, put on their mask respirators, those who actually bother to use them, and commence spraying those noxious insecticides and pesticides on lawns and flower beds for watering systems to wash down the storm drains and into the Mokelumne River or leech into the groundwater, which we then drink. And when the wind blows briskly, they continue spraying their noxious pollutants with most migrating into our already overly polluted SJ county air or the unwary next door or nearby neighbors faces Android respiratory system.
