The Mokelumne River originates in the Sierra Nevada mountain range and flows through Lodi, CA. on its way into the California Delta. The river’s name is Plains Miwok … constructed from moke, meaning “fishnet”, and -umne, a suffix meaning “people of”.
The following pictures were taken last week on a warm March day as Larry Rice (a local swimming pool repairman) slowly piloted his bass boat up the river’s five-mile stretch from Lodi Lake Park to the Highway 99 overpass.

What beautiful photographs, the river truly mirrored the landscape that day. It must have been a very enjoyable trip.
