Each week, during the good-weather months, various Lodi organizations kindly provide a meal for the homeless (and near homeless) at Lawrence Park. Last night’s event, enjoyed by over 100 guests, marked the final meal of the season.
As an observer, it is difficult to piece together all parts of the experience. Words like “drugs”, “alcohol” and “Band-Aid” come to mind. Without question, the givers are sincere in their efforts to help. The needy takers accept it with appreciation. All stomachs are full … smiles come easily … but the images are none-the-less disturbing.
